Between 1918 and 1919 there were roughly 1.5 billion people on earth. Around 500 million contracted H1N1 (swine/spanish flu). A THIRD OF THE WORLD’S POPULATION! About 50 million people died. That is more than 3% of the worlds population. There were mask mandates and travel restrictions.
AFTER the pandemic, It took about 20 years to create a vaccine that is 40-50% affective, still not 100% safe and around 60,000 people still die from flu related complications yearly.
Nobody knows how many cases of Covid 19 there have been but we know that there have been about 4.7 million deaths attributed to C-19 since 2019. 4.7 million out of 7.7 billion.
First off, Everyone who is wanting/thinking that a 100% Covid vaccine adherence and mask mandate is a panacea is woefully ignorant of viruses and pathophysiology.
Second, this is all happening because of a virus that has contributed to the deaths of less than 0.06% of the worlds population. We have tanked our economy and created a social divide that is widening daily for a statistically irrelevant virus.
Before you tell me, “it’s not statistically irrelevant to the hospitals! The people who died and the family who lost them!!” I will remind you that you have probably told at least one person that the vaccine reactions are “statistically irrelevant” at some point during this shit show. Every person is relevant to someone else, hospitals are always going to be overwhelmed in a pandemic and health care workers are heroes (even if they don’t get vaccinated!).
Covid? Here to stay. Influenza viruses are still infecting millions of people each year. Covid will still be infecting people 100 years from now, if the human race survives climate change. Whatever avoidance methods you implement, your best recourse is to GET HEALTHY. Oh and also, stop being an asshole.
